Any day that I am too busy to run, is a day that I am too busy

There is something about running that no non-runner can ever understand
Despite all of the pain, time, and energy our body goes through, there is still that next day that keeps calling us back for more, and we respond to it by getting our shoes on again and hitting the road.
Why?
Because we are runners and that's what we do
As difficult as it may be to get myself motivated to go for a run, at the end of the day if I missed my run I feel a sense of guilt, like I missed my 'me time' with the world.
Yesterday it was a beautiful 73 degree sunny day in Pittsburgh, everyone was laying out on the grass, throwing footballs, studying, listening to music, just enjoying life, as was I, [& the last thing I wanted to do was get up from relaxing], but as I was looking through my planner I noticed May 1st.... Then I noticed yesterday's date was April 14th...
Needless to say, I got up and ran. With only two weeks before my next half marathon I knew I couldn't waste a day not getting some kind of exercise in! Because I do not want a repeat of last year. ouch [I'll save that story for another post]

So I decided to do a speed work out yesterday and while I was running my 800s I got that feeling
That feeling of nervousness, you know, the one you get before a race.
I hate that feeling.
But I find myself signing up for races, time and time again : )
And now that I am in college and don't compete for a team anymore I still find the butterflies coming into my stomach. But the races keep coming because when a group of over a thousand people come together to do what they love, it is just the most empowering thing, and the stories you hear as you are running, simply remind you why you started in the first place. free pink ribbon bagels from panera, just kidding! kinda

Last year after my first half marathon... I was in serious PAIN in this picture... and to top it off my mother beat me.

Do you like to race?
Favorite Distance?!!?
If so you know that feeling I am talking about!
What do you do to keep calm and carry on?

All in the details

I have added something to my bucket list.
As vain and foolish as it may sound, I want to be approached & photographed by The Sartorialist one day.  In my eyes he is a genius and captures the most stunning photos of people I have ever seen.
If you were to ask me what my personal style is, well it would just depend on the day and how I feel.  I can tell you that my closet consists pretty much only of, grey, white, nude, & black... oh wait does navy count as a color?

These are some of my finds that I fell in love with recently [one of them is colorful!]
Oh look at what I found!!!! & 10% of student discounts on Tuesdays! SCORE

beautiful life

I know, I know, I have been MIA for a while. But I have honestly been so busy and so involved with everything around me that I have not had time to even check my email! crazy yes I know! But no worries I am back!!!!!! So this weekend my mom, brother and sister came to visit Pittsburgh and we did so much! But sadly in the midst of it all my camera was having malfunctions, and as my mother put it, it was on
"stuck mode".
Starting from Wednesday night they got here and completely crashed after the four hour drive to the Burgh.  Thursday was spent wandering around the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium, and then I helped my Delta Sigma Pi brothers make posters for "Relay For Life"....did I mention that I was initiated on Tuesday and BECAME A BROTHER!!! : ) yes I am so happy about it!

Friday was spent at the Carnegie Science Center, which was more fun than words can begin to describe! (but sadly my camera was dead)!!
And Saturday was spent lounging around town at the park, Red Oak [which I orderd a delish Reuben at], Chipotle <3 and RAZZY FRESH <-- if you have not gone there, I am so sorry for your tummy!  It was probably the best thing since sliced bread, not even kidding!
 my beautiful mama
to be a child again
To top my weekend off [Which I am sure is not humanly possible.... I got to see Ke$ha ] Thank You PITT!

BACK TO REALITY <3 MONDAY.

Sunday, April 3, 2011

I hope...

the real world is this much fun one day.
because the past 24 hours have been incredible.

I went to a formal with this handsome man.
and had a blast as you can see
i <3 this girl
Then I ate a juicy delicious burger with golden crispy fries at Fat Heads.
oh and my awesomeness didn't stop there....
I took it to the next level and went to the beloved Milk Shake Factory!
I literally walked in and was greeted by sweet aroma of chocolate. It was pure heaven.

With over 50 flavors of milk shakes and my indecisive self wanting a sip of every single flavor, I decided to create my own.  I had the banana double chocolate brownie bites shake. Hallelujah. I was originally going to get the banana chocolate, but when I heard the girl say the brownie bites shake has chunks of homemade brownies in it, I couldn't resist.  There is something about the term 'homemade' that makes desserts all the much better.

I am a very happy camper.
Perfect date, perfect lunch, perfect dessert, perfect weekend.
And only one class tomorrow, ah I'm on cloud nine right now!
: )

How was your weekend???
